Charges and balances
Distinguish estimates, posted charges and the funds available for each purpose.
Common symptoms
Unexpected charge, balance lower, estimate mismatch, traffic overage, powered off still charged, wallet, ledger, timezone
What to check
- Review the order's resource rates, setup fees, one-time IP fees and network billing mode. Monthly estimates use the stated hour assumption; metered traffic and one-time fees may be additional.
- Use Billing to trace a posted charge to its server and covered period. Charts show collected usage; the ledger records posted charges. Compare the same display timezone and account for incomplete reporting periods.
- Use Wallet to distinguish service balance from transferable and withdrawable funds. Powering off does not delete the server; retained resources may continue billing under applicable rules. Read previews before changing or deleting a service.
Common questions
Why does the ledger total differ from a chart or monthly estimate?
An estimate uses stated assumptions, and charts reflect collected usage rather than every posted fee. Check the ledger's covered periods, timezone, one-time fees and reporting progress when comparing them.
Will powering off stop every charge?
Powering off leaves the server and retained resources in place. Applicable resource or service charges may continue. Review the current billing rules and the change or deletion preview before deciding how to end a service.
